Mason will see a third specialist next week before informing Hull City of his decision.
His career is in serious doubt after two doctors offered opposing views on whether he will ever be fit enough to play again, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Tottenham midfielder underwent surgery and was then kept in an induced coma after clashing heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill.

After an extended spell of recuperation he returned to training at The Tigers' east Yorkshire training base, hoping to play again.
And while he is desperate to play again, he will wait until after his third consultation before making his decision.
